Metal enthusiasts! The highly anticipated album “Incendiary Sanctum” by Toronto’s blackened post-metal trio, A FLOCK NAMED MURDER, has officially been released through Hypaethral Records. The band’s mesmerizing blend of black metal, post-metal, doom, and death metal creates a distinctive sound and has already garnered praise.

Amped Magazine UK hails the album, noting that “A FLOCK NAMED MURDER could have rested on the promise of their debut. Instead, they’ve crafted something far greater: a work of staggering ambition and execution. I urge you, don’t sleep on Incendiary Sanctum.” Similarly, Wonderbox Metal describes it as “a rewarding, absorbing, and enjoyable album. It’s vast and adventurous, with a substantive depth that demands repeat visits to its intriguing shores.” Outlaws Of The Sun also praises the album as “one of the most innovative, most important and landmark albums from the extreme metal scene in the years to come.”

Listeners can now stream “Incendiary Sanctum” on Bandcamp. The album features stunning cover art by Adam Burke (Nightjar Illustration) and includes special appearances by Luke Farndon of Drofnosura and pianist Rob McAllister of Centuries Of Decay on select tracks. The meticulous production process involved Roland Rodas (Cavern Of Echoes Studio) for drum recording and mastering, while Matt Hems (Seventh Level Sound) and Greg Dawson (BWC Studios) handled various other recording duties.

Field recordings from Yosemite National Park and Toronto’s Cathedral Church of St. James lend a unique atmosphere to tracks like “The Eulogy Fields” and “To Drown In Obsidian Tides.” The album is available in limited edition CD and vinyl formats as well as digital download. Orders can be placed via the Hypaethral webshop or Bandcamp.

A FLOCK NAMED MURDER, formed by brothers Cam and Ryan Mueller, initially started under the name Sovereign and quickly became a staple in Toronto’s metal scene. With the addition of Mike Wandy on bass, the band redefined their sound and vision, launching their first full-length album as A FLOCK NAMED MURDER, “An Appointed Time,” in 2018. Their new release “Incendiary Sanctum” promises to push the boundaries of their craft even further, offering a profound experience for fans both new and old.

As highlighted by Decibel Magazine about the track “To Drown In Obsidian Tides,” the band embarks on “an expansive, sludgy, doom-laden path complete with melodic, moody guitar work, raw-throated vocals, and a full-on black metal assault at its crescendo. It’s practically a mini-album on its own.”

Don’t miss streaming “Incendiary Sanctum” online and immerse yourself in this powerful exploration of extremity and emotion crafted by A FLOCK NAMED MURDER.
