Acres Releases New Video for “Staring at the Sun“

Appearing at Select Dates with Beartooth
Acres, the UK-based band, has announced that their new album, The Host, will be released on May 2 through Solid State Records. You can pre-order it now.

They’ve released the music video for their new single “Staring at the Sun.” The performance video captures the band in their most authentic form, playing their instruments. There’s a subtle voyeuristic feel to the camera angles that keeps viewers entranced.
The song highlights the band’s quiet-loud dynamics, demonstrating their skillful blend of melody, turbulence, and romantic despair.
“‘Staring at the Sun’ is a classic miserable Acres love song,” says Ben Lumber, the band’s vocalist. “The record goes in a brand new direction, but we wanted a few songs to nod to our roots with remnants of our old vibe. It’s about not being able to let go of someone or something who has a hold over you.”
Lumber explains, “The Host represents a bold step in a new direction for us as a band, we’ve always pushed ourselves to evolve with every album and never write the same record twice. This time the process was unlike anything we’ve done before, working with Landon Tewers brought a fresh perspective and added a new flair to our sound that we’re really excited about!”
Acres first captivated audiences in 2019 with the release of the fan-favorite album Lonely World. After extensive touring, they made significant advancements with 2023’s Burning Throne. “My Everything” gathered 2.6 million Spotify streams, followed by “Hold On” with another 2 million streams. Kerrang! praised how “Acres display their potential with some big choruses to match,” and When The Horn Blows described Burning Throne as “a classic metalcore album filled with swinging hooks, rough riffs, popping electronic elements and lovely vocals that turn into monster screams.”
In October 2024, the band crossed the Atlantic to record The Host with Landon Tewers, frontman of The Plot In You, as producer. They stayed at his studio in Michigan, enjoying Halloween in America while expanding their sound with new elements like drop-tunings and benefiting from Tewers’ perspective and expertise.
The Host Track Listing:
1. “Bloodlust“
2. “Not So Different”
3. “Staring At The Sun”
