IMPALED to Release “Demo Medicale” on April 11th via Tankcrimes; Preorders Open Now
Oakland’s death metal and grindcore legends IMPALED are set to unleash their “Demo Medicale” on April 11th through Tankcrimes. Captured in early 2002, “Demo Medicale” served as the groundwork for their iconic second album, “Mondo Medicale”. Though the demo lacks “Raise The Stakes”—added only in the album’s recording—and tracks “Gross Anatomy” and “Choice Cuts” were carved out to finalize IMPALED’s deal with Necropolis Records, it offers intriguing vocal patterns and riffs unique to the demo.
Guitarist/vocalist Sean McGrath, drummer Raul Varela, and bassist/vocalist Ross Sewage unearthed these demos two decades later, courtesy of ex-guitarist Andrew LaBarre, who tragically passed due to ALS in June 2022. IMPALED dedicates this release to LaBarre, celebrating his talent and lasting influence.
Ross Sewage remarks, “I’m excited to share this lost recording of the demo version of IMPALED’s “Mondo Medicale”. “Demo Medicale” is more than just a rough recording or a convenient legal loophole vis a vis our former contract. It really showcases what our former guitar player, engineer, and mixer, Andrew LaBarre, brought to IMPALED, how he contributed to our sound, and the legacy he left behind.”

Recorded in their rehearsal space in Oakland’s Soundwave Studios by Andrew LaBarre, mixed by LaBarre, and mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering, “Demo Medicale” will be available on CD, digital, and limited edition vinyl in these variants:
