Shadows Fall just released the captivating video for their new single “Souls Devoured“—be sure to watch it! In celebration of their return, the band will be hitting the road with fellow Massachusetts metal giants Killswitch Engage throughout May, with a special appearance at Sonic Temple.
The legendary lineup of Shadows Fall—vocalist Brian Fair, guitarists Jonathan Donais and Matt Bachand, bassist Paul Romanko, and drummer Jason Bittner—is delivering a powerful track in “Souls Devoured,” a metallic anthem showcasing their signature style. Expect galloping solos, compelling vocals, massive melodies, and powerful lyrics.
Brian Fair sheds light on the creative process, stating, “’Souls Devoured’ is a great example of that style of songwriting where we let it all hang out. It opens with a huge groove and rock riff before transitioning into a black metal-inspired verse to add a little evil to the party… It has familiar elements but sounds like nothing we have ever written before.”
The theme of the track is as intense as the music itself. Fair explains, “Lyrically, the song is about finding yourself trapped in an apocalyptic event where demons and disasters have begun to consume the world.” It’s a narrative of survival and raw power—a call to embrace the dark to face down terror, pure heavy metal style.
