Chicago’s death/extreme metal powerhouse, CONTRITION, unveils their new EP, “Pariahs,” courtesy of Disorder Recordings.
Emerging from the ashes of the former band Doomsday, CONTRITION embarked on their musical journey during the COVID-19 lockdowns, culminating in their debut album, “Broken Mortal Coil,” which hit the airwaves in October 2011. The band comprises vocalist Jerome Marshall (Yakuza, Cobalt-live), guitarist/synth player Jeff Wilson (Chrome Waves, Deeper Graves, ex-Nachtmystium), bassist Jon Woodring (Bones, ex-Usurper), and drummer Garry Naples (Trouble, Novembers Doom, Wolvhammer), weaving a sonic tapestry of ’90s death metal infused with the raw intensity of street confrontations.
“Pariahs” is a fierce EP featuring three relentless tracks, recorded by Chris Lee Smith and CONTRITION, mixed and mastered by Jeff Wilson, adorned with captivating cover art by Andre Trindade, and enriched with a blistering guest solo on “Trauma Queen” by Sammy Duet (Goatwhore).
Reflecting on the EP’s creation, Jeff Wilson shares, “Some things don’t always go according to plan. We’ve been holding onto these songs for over a year now. Whether it was my hand injury, band members touring with other projects, or conflicting studio schedules, the hurdles seemed endless, and a full album never materialized… Nevertheless, the three tracks we’ve crafted this time are potent, abrasive, and downright brutal; just the way we intended them to be.”
“Pariahs” made its digital debut on October 18th, marking CONTRITION’s latest sonic offering to the metal realm.
