Corey Taylor and Bad Omens have teamed up for an impressive cover of the Kansas classic, “Dust in the Wind.” Skillfully produced, mixed, and mastered by Aaron Gilhuis, this collaboration is a highlight of the official soundtrack for the film “Queen of the Ring,” set to release through Sumerian Records on March 7th.
Airing in theaters just in time for International Women’s Day, “Queen of the Ring” chronicles the remarkable story of wrestling pioneer Mildred Burke. The film, penned and directed by Ash Avildsen—acclaimed Best Director at the 2024 Portland Film Festival—takes audiences through Burke’s rise during the 1930s and ’50s when she became the first million-dollar female athlete, challenging societal norms by headlining male-dominated wrestling events as women’s wrestling faced bans across much of the U.S.
Emily Bett Rickards (known for “Arrow”) stars in a powerful portrayal of Burke, supported by a talented cast that includes Josh Lucas, Walton Goggins, Gavin Casalegno, Tyler Posey, and Deborah Ann Woll. Wrestling personalities Kamille, Toni Storm, Trinity Fatu, and Jim Cornette add authenticity to the story with their guest appearances. The film’s organization around International Women’s Month underscores its celebration of women who smashed barriers and transformed their fields forever.
The trailer for “Queen of the Ring” is available for viewing, and fans can pre-order their tickets now for the March 7th screening—aligning with International Women’s Day celebrations.
Ash Avildsen, the creative mind behind the movie, previously made waves with his first feature film, “American Satan,” which celebrated success at various film festivals and was later acquired by Miramax and Showtime. He then expanded this universe with the series “Paradise City.”
Driven by a DIY spirit since embarking on a career in music, Avildsen founded Sumerian Records, which has ascended to prominence in the rock and alternative music scenes, renowned for Grammy nominations and chart-topping hits. Recently, Sumerian Records marked a milestone with the first-ever solo female artist Grammy nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category, featuring Poppy, pushing the boundaries yet again in the music industry.
