Legendary guitarist Michael Schenker is making waves with the release of his third single, “Only You Can Rock Me,” from his upcoming album My Years with UFO. Following the success of his previous hits, “Mother Mary” featuring Slash and Erik Grönwall, and “Rock Bottom” featuring Kai Hansen, this latest track offers fans another taste of the excitement building around the album.
“Only You Can Rock Me” is a powerhouse collaboration, featuring Joey Tempest from Europe on vocals, Roger Glover of Deep Purple on bass, Derek Sherinian on keys, and Brian Tichy on drums. The single is set to amplify the anticipation for what promises to be one of 2024’s standout rock records.
My Years with UFO serves as a tribute to the golden era of the British hard rock band UFO. Schenker, who joined the band at the age of 17, was instrumental in their ascent to rock legend status. His guitar work and songwriting on iconic tracks like “Doctor Doctor,” “Rock Bottom,” and “Lights Out” have left an indelible mark on the genre. The album, co-produced by Schenker and Michael Voss, celebrates the 50th anniversary of Schenker’s time with UFO, spanning from 1972 to 1978.
During his six years with UFO, Schenker contributed to some of the most influential rock albums of the era, including Phenomenon, Lights Out, and the seminal live album Strangers in the Night. These records are considered foundational in any serious rock collection.
My Years with UFO revisits 11 of the band’s greatest hits, reimagined with an impressive roster of guest artists. The album features appearances by Axl Rose, Slash, Dee Snider, Kai Hansen, and many others. This release also marks the beginning of a trilogy, with two additional albums planned for 2025 and 2026 under a new deal with earMUSIC.
