The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM) has just dropped a fiery new video for “Panic Hysteric,” a track from their tenth album, Servitude, now out on Metal Blade Records. The song, a nod to the classic Swedish death metal style, takes a lyrical dive into the cultural shockwave of rock ‘n’ roll in mid-century America. “I was reading quotes from Frank Sinatra, who wasn’t a fan of rock ‘n’ roll,” shares vocalist Brian Eschbach. “I even quoted him in the song—it was fun to write, especially with some vodka and Shirley Temples.”
Fans and critics alike are raving about Servitude. Decibel Magazine hails it as the kind of album their late frontman Trevor Strnad would have loved. The record is a whirlwind of relentless riffs, grooves, and intensity packed into just 33 minutes. Kerrang! praises the band for channeling their grief and loss into an album that not only honors Strnad but also keeps the spirit of TBDM alive and kicking.
The band, now led by Eschbach on vocals after his switch from guitar, reunited with former guitarist Ryan Knight, marking his return since 2015’s Abysmal. Together with bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and guitarist Brandon Ellis, TBDM is back with a lineup that keeps their legacy strong.
To support Servitude, TBDM is about has hit the road with Dying Fetus for the Beg To Serve 2024 North American co-headlining tour. The tour kicked off on October 3rd in Cleveland, Ohio, and spans more than two dozen cities, wrapping up in Chicago on November 10th. The lineup will also feature Spite, AngelMaker, and Vomit Forth, making this a must-see for death metal fans.
