DEIVOS: MetalSucks Hosted Exclusive Stream of Apophenia, The Seventh Full-Length From Long-Running Polish Death Metal Quintet; Album Released on Selfmadegod Records

“From start to finish, DEIVOS set out on a mission of brutality, and they deliver.” – MetalSucks

MetalSucks hosted the exclusive premiere of Apophenia, the relentless seventh studio album by Poland’s veteran death metal band DEIVOS, ahead of its release on Friday via Selfmadegod Records.

The album provided a hypnotically punishing listening experience, bursting forth with nine new tracks. Apophenia was devoid of filler, packed with rapid transitions and crushing segments of technical yet accessible death metal that obliterated everything in its path.

Recorded across Poland throughout 2023, the drums were engineered and recorded by Krzysztof Godycki at Roslyn Studio, the bass was laid down at Kamil Home Studio, while the guitars and vocals were tracked at Zed Studio. The mixing and mastering were handled by Tomek Zalewski at Zed Studio in early 2024. The intros and outros of the album were crafted by Mścisław, except for the “Feretory” outro, which was produced by Head.One.Beatz. The cover art was created by the late Mariusz Lewandowski (Mizmor, Bell Witch, Fuming Mouth), with design and layout by Michał Kaczkowski, and photography by Marcin Studziński.

Vocalist Hubert Banach expressed, “Our new album delivers a piece of solid death metal with a modern yet gritty sound, reminiscent of the genre’s classics. If you’re looking for strong, technical metal with memorable tracks, grab this album!”

MetalSucks remarked, “Featuring nine new, brutal tracks, Apophenia gave a modern definition to the concept of ‘all killer, no filler,’ as each track was lean and visceral. There was no bullshit to pull out of it. From start to finish, DEIVOS set out on a mission of brutality, and they delivered. Songs like ‘My Sacrifice’ and ‘The Great Day of His Wrath’ left very little room to breathe. Honestly, that could be said about the whole damn record.”

Apophenia was made available on CD and digital platforms on Friday, October 18th, with preorders available at Selfmadegod Records’ Bandcamp and their newly relaunched webshop.

DEIVOS formed in 1997, releasing their first demo, Praised By Generations, in 1999. After a brief hiatus, they put out the Hostile Blood EP via Butchery Music in 2003, which garnered a positive reception from the underground death metal scene. In 2004, the band began writing for their debut album, which was recorded in early 2006 at the renowned Hertz Studio (Decapitated, Vader). Emanation From Below was released in Poland in November 2006 by Empire Records and later in Europe in January 2008 thanks to Metal Mind Productions.

In late 2008, DEIVOS returned to Hertz Studio to record their second album, Gospel Of Maggots, which caught the attention of Unique Leader Records, leading to its release in February 2010. Following some lineup changes, the band recorded their third album, Demiurge Of The Void, at Hertz Studio in February 2011, which was also released by Unique Leader in September 2011.

After a four-year break, DEIVOS signed with Selfmadegod Records, releasing their impactful album, Theodicy, in February 2015. The subsequent album, Endemic Divine, followed two years later, and their sixth album, Casus Belli, was released in November 2019, both through Selfmadegod Records.

In 2021, DEIVOS and Selfmadegod reissued the band’s earliest works, with Emanation From Below, Hostile Blood, and Praised By Generations compiled into a double-disc set. Since then, the band dedicated themselves to crafting their seventh album, Apophenia.
