British heavy metal legends DIAMOND HEAD are thrilled to announce the release of “Live And Electric,” a live album capturing the essence of their iconic career and the raw energy of a classic British heavy metal night. The album promises powerful production that feels like you’re right there in the venue.

The first single from “Live And Electric”, “Helpless,” has just been released. Founding member and lead guitarist Brian Tatler reminisces, “In September 1979, the song ‘Helpless’ began life as a riff I was playing by an obscure punk band. I was playing it at the fifth fret and singer Sean Harris said, ‘play it at the second fret but play it faster,’ and the song took shape. It has always been a powerhouse live and one of the songs that has never left the set list. Metallica covered ‘Helpless’ on “The $5.98 EP…” in 1987 which introduced it to a whole new set of metal fans.”

“Live And Electric” will be available on July 11th via Silver Lining Music in 2xLP, CD, and digital formats. You can pre-order now HERE.

The album was recorded during the band’s 2022 tour with Saxon, capturing shows from Aberdeen, Blackburn, York, Cambridge, Cardiff, and Bexhill. The recordings exude a distinct British energy, beautifully mixed by Jay Shredder, with mastering by frontman Rasmus Bom Andersen. Known for his genre-defining riffs, Brian Tatler’s role in shaping hard rock and metal is immense, but Andersen brings explosive power and personality to these performances.

Tatler reflects, “It’s the first DIAMOND HEAD live album for twenty years and the first time in DIAMOND HEAD’s career that we were able to record all fourteen shows and then go through them to find the best performances. In the past, we would only record one specific show and so all the pressure to get it right on the night would build up and make everyone very nervous. Somewhere in the middle of this tour things began to gel and fortunately these shows were captured for posterity.”

“Live And Electric” showcases both classic tracks, like “The Prince,” and newer hits such as “Belly Of The Beast,” demonstrating the tight synergy within the band where bassist Paul Gaskin, rhythm/lead guitarist Andrew “Abbz” Abberley, and drummer Karl Wilcox provide a robust foundation. They seamlessly blend respect for timeless classics with fresh energy, ensuring the album is a dynamic tribute to Britain’s heavy metal scene and DIAMOND HEAD’s enduring impact.
