Swedish experimental band Gösta Berlings Saga is back with exciting news! They have announced the release of their seventh studio album, “Forever Now”, set to drop on June 6 through Pelagic Records. Along with the album announcement, the group has launched their first single and accompanying video titled “Through The Arches.”

Describing the new single, the band states, “‘Through the Arches’ is GBS in 2025 — pure and amplified. One of the first tracks completed for the new album, it packs all the classic GBS ingredients, but turned up a few notches. Melodic, cosmic, chaotic, euphoric — all in one track. The accompanying video, crafted by Martin Gustafsson, is a visual journey into the everlasting and beyond, perfectly capturing the song’s essence.”
“Forever Now” promises to be a masterful blend of intricate songwriting and spontaneous rock, moving forward with the band’s unconventional spirit. In their own words, they express, “Super stoked to soon unleash “Forever Now” upon the world. It’s an album we’ve put our heart, soul, and every atom of our beings into. Written, recorded, mixed, and produced by ourselves, it fills us with great pride that even after 20+ years we still find joy, creativity, and new ways to approach music. “Forever Now” is a journey in search of small fragments of eternity within the present moment – where time dissolves, and music becomes the gateway to the infinite.”
Gösta Berlings Saga began their journey in 2000, fueled by the creative chemistry between keyboardist David Lundberg and drummer Alexander Skepp. Influenced by the jazz-fusion of fellow Swedes Hansson & Karlsson, they expanded their lineup to include bassist Gabriel Tapper and guitarist Mathias Danielsson, leading to their debut album, “Tid Är Ljud”, in 2006. Over the years, the band has evolved through lineup changes and evolving sounds, releasing critically acclaimed albums like “Dette Har Hänt” (2009) and “Glue Works” (2011), which showcased their unique approach to sound.
The departure of guitarist Einar Baldursson in 2017 prompted a fresh chapter for Gösta Berlings Saga, as they brought in guitarist Rasmus Booberg and percussionist Jesper Skarin. Their subsequent releases, including “ET EX” (2018) and “Konkret Music” (2020), further demonstrated their fearless experimentation and brought them to new audiences.
“Forever Now” consists of 10 tracks that encapsulate 25 years of innovative chaos from Gösta Berlings Saga. Lovingly crafted by the band for the first time, the album features intertwining synthesizers, arpeggiated guitars, and dynamic percussion, creating an energetic experience five years in the making.
While “Forever Now” isn’t strictly a concept album, personal challenges during the writing process influenced its creation. Instead of being overshadowed by grief, the band focused on the pursuit of the eternal, portraying music as a bridge across time – connecting the past, present, and future.
