Pelican to Co-Headline Opening Night
Chicago’s own post-metal giants, Pelican, are set to co-headline the opening night on Friday with Bongripper, November 1st along with support from Wraith, Avernus, and Motherless. Fresh off tracking their seventh album, which features founding guitarist Laurent Lebec, Pelican is excited to bring new music to their hometown. “We’re psyched to close out our year at Heavy Chicago,” the band shared, adding that they’ll be playing some fresh tracks for local fans.
Saturday’s Powerhouse Lineup
Saturday, November 2nd, is headlined by hardcore legends Earth Crisis, with special guests Jasta and Legions of Doom. Chicago-based grindcore supergroup Earthburner is also set to play and will offer an exclusive chance to snag their new album Permanent Dawn before its official release. “We’re super chuffed to be returning to Chicago for this festival,” guitarist Jeremy Wagner shared. Other acts include The Crosses, Usurper, and Masonic Wave.
Cynic Closes Out the Festival
Sunday, November 3rd, closes with progressive metal legends Cynic, making a long-awaited return to Chicago. The band will debut a set of material exclusively at Heavy Chicago. Toxic Holocaust, Profanatica, The Skull, and local heavy hitters Exegesis round out the night, with one more special guest to be announced in October.
