MIASIS: Y2k-Era Chicago-Area Metalcore Band Featuring Sean Ingram Of Coalesce To Reissue Remixed/Remastered In And Out Of Weeks EP October 18th
Chicago-area metalcore band MIASIS, a prominent figure in the late-1990s and early-2000s music scene, made a triumphant return with the remixed and remastered version of their iconic “In And Out Of Weeks” EP. This reissue, featuring the powerful vocals of Sean Ingram from Coalesce, is available on all major digital platforms.
The EP, originally recorded between July 2000 and April 2001 by Mark Sampson at Cadence Studios, has undergone a transformation with mixing by Andy Chavez and mastering by Dan Coutant. Notable contributions to the cover design include Joe Chavez from Fire Eater Industries and Aaron Turner for the cover dot pattern.
One of the highlight tracks, “001,” also has a captivating video directed by Ricardo Cozzolino, filmed during MIASIS’ electrifying performance at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago in 2002, where they shared the stage with Coheed & Cambria and From Autumn To Ashes.

MIASIS emerged in 1999, encapsulating the spirit of the vibrant ’90s and ’00s Chicago punk scene. The band, comprising Andy and Joe Chavez along with Evan Mallon, sought to create intense and heavy music. Their collaboration with Sean Ingram from Coalesce added a unique dimension to their sound, setting them apart in the metalcore genre.
Reflecting on their journey, Joe Chavez shared, “As a DIY garage band from the suburbs of Chicago, we’ve always been so proud of the material we recorded with Sean, and grateful for the opportunity to work with someone we respect so much as an artist. We wanted to share it with anyone interested in listening to this little bit of our history.”
