Octoploid, the metal project led by bassist Olli-Pekka “Oppu” Laine (Amorphis, Barren Earth, Mannhai), has unleashed their debut full-length album, Beyond The Aeons, through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM).
In celebration of the release, Octoploid shares a lyric video for the album’s closing track, “A Dusk Of Vex,” featuring guest vocals from Jón Aldará. Laine describes the track as a blend of a crushing mid-tempo death metal riff, an arena-sized chorus, and a twisted foundation, all capped off with a ‘70s AOR-inspired outro. It’s a complex mix, but the song proves that these elements can come together to create something truly epic.
In the lead-up to the album’s release, Octoploid also treated fans to several music videos. If you haven’t already, check out the visually stunning videos for “Human Amoral” featuring Tomi Joutsen, “The Dawns In Nothingness” with Mikko Kotamäki, and “The Hallowed Flame,” also featuring Kotamäki.
Beyond The Aeons comes to life at E-Studio in Sipoo, Finland, with mixing handled by Petri Majuri (Hanoi Rocks, Michael Monroe) and mastering by David Castillo (Katatonia, Leprous, Opeth). The album’s cover art, created by Orion Landau (Carcass, YOB, Russian Circles), perfectly captures the dreamy yet intense atmosphere of the music.
