The Mongolian rock band’s 11-track record arrived July 24, with vinyl editions following in September and major tours planned across North America and Europe.
The HU released their third studio album, HUN, on July 24 through Better Noise Music, opening the next chapter of the Mongolian band’s blend of traditional instrumentation, throat singing and heavy rock.
The 11-track album is currently available digitally and on CD. Multiple vinyl editions and a box set are scheduled for release on September 11.

Alongside the album, The HU premiered a music video for “Horsemen,” a song drawing inspiration from the discipline, courage and mobility associated with Mongolia’s historic mounted warriors.
“‘Horsemen’ is inspired by the legendary Mongolian warriors who once rode across much of the known world,” the band said. “These warriors were known for their discipline, intelligence, courage, and incredible skill. They were called the ‘Army of the Heavens’ because of their unmatched mobility and strength. This song celebrates their spirit and honors the qualities that made them legendary. It’s a reminder that true power comes from discipline, wisdom, and unity.”
The album’s title translates to “human” in the band’s native language. According to the announcement, the project was initially titled Between the Heaven and Earth, but the group ultimately chose HUN to better represent the record’s focus on human life, collective experience and the natural relationship between people and the world around them.
“In our third album, we tested many boundaries and used different techniques to perfect the combination of traditional instruments with heavy metal music genres,” Jaya said. “The concept of the HUN album comes from universal experiences we all go through collectively as humans in this world. Our hope is to remind our listeners the importance of introspection through variety of songs from slow to fast rhythmic songs.”
The record continues the sound The HU have described as Hunnu Rock, combining Mongolian instruments and vocal traditions with contemporary rock and metal arrangements. The group’s core lineup consists of Galaa on morin khuur and throat singing, Jaya on tumur khuur, tsuur and throat singing, Enkush on morin khuur and throat singing, and Temka on tovshuur and throat singing.
Although much of HUN is rooted in Mongolian history, culture and legend, the band has framed the album’s central themes around experiences shared across cultures. Songs including “Warrior Chant,” “Echoes of My Father,” “Greed,” “Universe” and “Second Face” contribute to a track sequence moving between personal reflection and broader historical imagery.
The digital edition also includes “Lost Soul,” featuring Jonny Hawkins of Nothing More. The collaboration marked the first recording between The HU and Hawkins. The version featuring the Nothing More vocalist is exclusive to the digital edition of HUN and does not appear on the physical track listing.
At the time of the album announcement, “Lost Soul” was listed at No. 17 on the Active Rock chart.
HUN follows several years of continued international growth for The HU, who recently performed with Iron Maiden in the United Kingdom and completed a North American headlining tour. The band is now preparing to return to North America as part of a summer amphitheater run with Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Orgy.
That tour begins August 20 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida, and continues through September 20 at Toyota Pavilion at Concord in California. The routing includes stops in Tampa, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, Seattle and several other major markets.
The HU will then travel to the United Kingdom and Europe for a headlining tour with Skáld. That run begins September 29 in Glasgow and concludes October 31 at Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.
The band has also indicated that work on HUN has influenced its approach to future live production. In a statement accompanying the album, The HU said they have been developing a new setlist and considering ways to incorporate more extensive staging and cultural elements into future performances.
“We took our time to do this right, and we’re so glad that we’re almost ready to release what we have worked on these past few years,” the band said before the album’s arrival. “Now, we are also focusing on the performances and working out a brand-new setlist. We want to play bigger venues so we can do extensive production, and bring in some amazing elements of our culture, and play these ideas to our fans. And, as well as our third album, we have some amazing ideas for another album already!”
