The Swedish heavy band follows 2024 debut EXCESSIVE GUILT with a new full-length arriving November 6 through Arising Empire.
Swedish heavy outfit thrown will release their second full-length album, UNWANTED, on November 6 through Arising Empire, continuing a period of rapid growth that has taken the four-piece from an emerging act to an increasingly established presence on the international heavy music circuit.
Preorders for UNWANTED have opened ahead of the album’s release. The record follows thrown’s 2024 debut album, EXCESSIVE GUILT, and has already been previewed through three singles: “split,” “rehearsed” and “critic.”
The new material continues the band’s combination of hardcore aggression, metalcore, nu metal influences and groove-focused songwriting. According to information accompanying the album announcement, UNWANTED also maintains the direct lyrical approach heard throughout thrown’s earlier work, addressing frustration, isolation, resentment, self-reflection and interpersonal conflict.
“split” introduced the album cycle with an emphasis on internal turmoil and heavy rhythmic shifts, while “rehearsed,” released in June, turned its attention toward emotional manipulation and betrayal. The band followed in August with “critic,” a song centered on outside judgment and unwanted opinions.
Together, the three tracks provide an early outline of UNWANTED while maintaining the concise approach that has become closely associated with thrown’s catalog.
The upcoming record arrives after several years of substantial growth for the band. thrown released their debut EP, EXTENDED PAIN, in 2022 before following it with EXCESSIVE GUILT in 2024. According to figures included in the band’s current press materials, the five-track EP has surpassed 50 million streams, while thrown have grown beyond 1.5 million monthly Spotify listeners and accumulated more than 100 million streams across their music.
Their expansion has also taken place on the road. thrown have toured across North America, Europe and Australia and shared bills with acts including Knocked Loose, Fit For A King, Counterparts, While She Sleeps and Wage War. The band has also continued developing its own headline audience as its international touring schedule has expanded.
The group’s live growth has earned recognition at the Heavy Music Awards as well. thrown received Best Breakthrough Live Artist in 2024 and followed that recognition with Best Breakthrough Album in 2025.
The current lineup consists of vocalist Marcus Lundqvist, guitarists Johan Liljeblad and Andreas Malm, and drummer and producer Buster Odeholm.
UNWANTED now places the band’s next full-length at the center of an already active touring period. Beginning with a run of U.S. dates in October, thrown’s schedule includes appearances at Furnace Fest 2026 in Birmingham and Core Fest 2026 in Göppingen before moving through Europe later in the year. Australian dates are also scheduled for February.
Rather than representing a stylistic reset after EXCESSIVE GUILT, the first material from UNWANTED points toward a continuation and refinement of the compact, groove-heavy sound that has fueled thrown’s growth so far. With three singles already available and an extensive international schedule surrounding the album cycle, the November release marks the next major step in the band’s development following their debut full-length.
