**Kittie**
Kittie is back and ready to unleash their fury! Originally part of the nu-metal movement with their groundbreaking debut album “Spit” in 1999, Kittie evolved into a serious metal outfit with later releases like “In The Black” (2009) and “I’ve Failed You” (2011). After a lengthy hiatus, they returned with renewed energy and creativity, embracing their identity as a band. With their first new singles, “Eyes Wide Open” and “We Are Shadows,” released under Sumerian Records, Kittie is set to deliver a monstrous and volatile performance that you won’t want to miss.
Debut Album—”Spit” (1999): Kittie’s breakthrough came with their debut album, “Spit,” which was released in 1999. The album featured a mix of aggressive riffs and catchy hooks, and it positioned Kittie as a significant player in the nu-metal scene of the late ’90s. The hit single “Brackish” received considerable airplay and helped the band gain recognition.
Hiatus: Following the release of “I’ve Failed You,” Kittie went on an indefinite hiatus, during which time the members pursued various personal and professional projects. The silence was broken in 2017 with a one-off hometown show and the release of the documentary “Kittie: Origins/Evolutions” in 2018, which chronicled the band’s journey.
Return to Music: After a 13-year hiatus, Kittie announced their return to the music scene in 2022, coinciding with offers to perform at various festivals, including the sold-out Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas. They signed with Sumerian Records and released new singles, “Eyes Wide Open” and “We Are Shadows,” marking a significant return for the band.
Current Lineup: The current lineup includes Morgan Lander (vox/guitar), Mercedes Lander (drums/backing vox), Tara McLeod (guitar), and Ivy Vujic (bass). The band has expressed a renewed passion for creating music and continues to evolve their sound.
Kittie’s influence on the metal scene is notable, particularly for their contributions to the representation of women in heavy music. Their powerful performances and unique sound have solidified their status as a key figure in the genre.
