Dead Posey, the duo of vocalist Danyell Souza and guitarist Tony Nova, are gearing up to drop their highly anticipated debut album Are You In A Cult? on October 18. Along with the album announcement, the band has released a haunting new single, “Scar,” which is now available for streaming.
The album takes a deep dive into the rise of modern mini-cults, from political influencers to social media figures, self-help gurus, and celebrities. With its mix of goth, punk, ’80s synth, and ’90s alt-rock, Are You In A Cult? delivers a punch of rebellious energy, embracing dark, edgy themes inspired by cults, monsters, and nightmares.
Dead Posey explained their inspiration, saying, “We’ve seen these mini-cults everywhere—regular people falling under the spell of charismatic leaders or ideas, often to their own detriment. We’ve all been there at some point, but we hope asking the question can help people regain control.”
Their new single, “Scar,” is an emotional track that closes out the album. Described as their most vulnerable song to date, the band shared, “It’s about the demons we all face, the pain that can feel unbearable. But it’s also about healing—when we acknowledge our scars, we can start to move forward.”
