Portland, Oregon-based death metal band DECREPISY is bringing their crushing debut album, Emetic Communion, back into the spotlight with a reissue on Carbonized Records. Formed in 2020, DECREPISY is a powerhouse group made up of members from other notable bands like Vastum, Acephalix, Thanamagus, and Ascended Dead.
The band’s lineup includes Kyle House (Vastum, Acephalix) on guitar and vocals, Jonathan Quintana (Thanamagus, Ritual Necromancy) on guitar, Tim Lower (Hellgrazer, Grave Dust) on bass, and Charles Koryn (Ascended Dead, Funebrarum) on drums. Together, they create a savage and intense brand of death metal that’s both brutal and unique.
Emetic Communion dives deep into themes of pain, loss, and despair, delivering a sound that’s as heavy as it is haunting. Influenced by bands like Grave, Convulse, and Incantation, the album is filled with dark, brooding solos and riffs that seem to ooze from ancient tombs.
Upon its initial release, Emetic Communion received high praise. Decibel Magazine called it “one of the heaviest slabs of old-school death metal,” while Angry Metal Guy described it as “a noxious, toxic superfund site… thick and filthy.” Wonderbox Metal added that DECREPISY “knows how to write… cavernous underground death metal” and called the album “monstrous.”
Emetic Communion was recorded at Toadhouse by drummer Charles Koryn, with reamping, mixing, and mastering handled by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studio. The album artwork was created by guitarist Kyle House.
The reissue of Emetic Communion is available now on limited edition vinyl in Blood Red and Silver with Black Splatter. You can order it through the Carbonized Records webshop or Bandcamp.
