Extinction A.D. Unleashes Brutal New Album ‘To The Detested,’ Blending Hardcore Thrash with Puerto Rican Roots

New York’s intense hardcore thrash metal band, Extinction A.D., has just dropped their latest album, To The Detested, through Unique Leader Records. This is their fourth studio album, and it doesn’t hold back in its brutal sound or powerful lyrics. The band continues to grow and bring in new influences, which can be heard clearly in the track “Burnt Sienna.” This song is a tribute to lead singer Rick Jimenez’s Puerto Rican roots, featuring Bomba music elements and Rick singing in Spanish for the first time on one of their tracks. Rick’s personal journey and the band’s process in creating this song are explored in a mini-documentary that will be released on Monday, August 19th.

You can watch the official music video for “Burnt Sienna” or stream To The Detested on your favorite platform.

Rick Jimenez shares that working on “Burnt Sienna” was a wild experience from start to finish. They blended Bomba with their usual metal style, and Rick sang in Spanish as he explored the personal struggles and pride in his Puerto Rican heritage. The song’s creation was such an intense and revealing process for him that they made a documentary about it.

Rick also talks about how the new album came together quickly and with more raw energy than ever before. They didn’t second-guess anything, resulting in an album that’s full of intensity, anger, and honesty. To The Detested is a statement from the band, not meant for the faint-hearted.

To celebrate the release of To The Detested, Extinction A.D. will be hitting the road on the “Detested America 2024” tour, starting at the end of this month, with support from the band Assault. Get your tickets soon, and stay tuned for more news from Extinction A.D.

About Extinction A.D.:

Extinction A.D. is known for their fierce sound, and their intensity has only grown with their latest album, To The Detested, following the EP Ruthless Intent from earlier this year.

The band draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, including writers like Alan Moore and George Orwell, lyricists like Wreak Havoc and Chuck D, and filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino and John Carpenter. Musically, they’re influenced by early 90s metal bands like Pantera and Machine Head, as well as lesser-known 90s tracks from Testament, Sepultura, and Slayer.

Extinction A.D. delivers a powerful blend of 80s thrash, 90s extreme metal, and New York hardcore, creating a heavy, rebellious sound that’s all their own. The band’s goal is not just to create music, but to inspire a revolution.
