The French metal band will take over The Sovereign on September 18 with Locked Shut, donating all proceeds from the performance to local hunger relief efforts.
Gojira will turn an upcoming stop in St. Louis into a fundraiser for the community, performing a special one-night benefit concert at The Sovereign on Friday, September 18.
The Grammy Award-winning French metal band will be joined by special guests Locked Shut for the show, with doors scheduled to open at 7 p.m. CT. The performance comes ahead of Gojira’s appearance at Louder Than Life.
Rather than treating the St. Louis date as another addition to the band’s live schedule, Gojira is directing all proceeds from the concert to Operation Food Search, an independent hunger relief organization serving communities across Missouri and Illinois.
“We’re playing St. Louis on September 18 at The Sovereign, and this one’s a little different. ALL proceeds go to Operation Food Search, the biggest independent food bank in the city. They feed over 200,000 people a month, and they turn every dollar into six dollars of food. So come out. It’s $30, it’s going to be loud, and all of it goes to keeping people fed,” Gojira shared.
Operation Food Search is celebrating its 45th anniversary and works to address food insecurity through food assistance, nutrition education and other programs. According to information provided with the announcement, the organization serves more than 200,000 people each month through a network of more than 600 partners across 24 counties in Missouri and Illinois.
For Gojira fans, the benefit also presents an opportunity to see the band in a considerably different environment from the large festivals and major stages that have become a regular part of its touring presence. The Sovereign performance places that live intensity behind a specific local effort, with the money generated by the evening staying connected to hunger relief in the St. Louis region.
The concert also fits within Gojira’s longstanding willingness to connect its music and public platform with causes beyond the stage. The band has previously supported advocacy efforts including work involving animal rights organization PETA, while environmental and social issues have remained recurring elements surrounding its broader identity.
That combination of music and advocacy gives the September 18 performance a purpose beyond its place on the calendar. Fans attending the St. Louis show will get a standalone Gojira performance before the band moves on to Louder Than Life, while the proceeds from the night will directly support Operation Food Search and its work throughout the region.
