Chicago’s distinctive chaos unit, IMMORTAL BIRD, released their highly anticipated third album, “Sin Querencia”, on October 18th via 20 Buck Spin.
Following the 2019 release of their album “Thrive On Neglect”, IMMORTAL BIRD has evolved, exploring a diverse range of sounds that has led to a complex and anguished sonic landscape. This new album serves as a natural progression from their previous work.
IMMORTAL BIRD breaks free from conventional genre boundaries, seamlessly blending death metal, black metal, hardcore, and the noise rock influences characteristic of their hometown. Their sound showcases an intricate compositional style reminiscent of innovative bands like Gorguts and Ulcerate. For “Sin Querencia”, the trio—comprised of guitarist Nate Madden, multi-instrumentalists Rae Amitay and Matt Korajczyk—has collaborated to create a powerful and chaotic metal experience marked by clarity and precision.
Amitay delivers a dynamic vocal performance that complements the band’s relentless intensity, incorporating both aggressive and haunting clean vocals in tracks like the opening song, “Bioluminescent Toxins.” Her lyrics tackle profound themes, combining allegory and criticism to reflect on societal hypocrisy and our complicity in today’s world.
The album features robust production and engineering by Pete Grossmann at Bricktop Recording, known for working with acts like Harm’s Way and Weekend Nachos, while the mastering was handled by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, recognized for his work with Obituary and Nails. The cover art, crafted by their long-time collaborator Kikyz1313, alongside layout and design by Eddie Limperis, adds to the album’s striking presentation, marking a significant milestone in IMMORTAL BIRD’s over ten-year journey as a band.
Fans of Krallice, Inter Arma, Pyrrhon, and Converge will find much to appreciate in “Sin Querencia”.

IMMORTAL BIRD has shared the stage with a variety of extreme music acts and is gearing up for extensive touring in the coming months, including two special dual-record release shows with Mother Of Graves on November 15th in Indianapolis and November 23rd in Chicago.
