The band’s fifth album arrives November 13 via SharpTone Records before a North American headline tour launching one day later.

Kingdom of Giants will return with their fifth album, Usurper, on November 13 via SharpTone Records, marking the band’s first full-length release since 2020’s Passenger.

The album announcement arrives alongside “Reign,” a new single accompanied by an official music video. The track offers another look at Usurper ahead of its 11-song release and material the band will soon have an opportunity to bring directly to the stage.

For vocalist Dana Willax, the record represents considerably more than the eight months spent creating it.

“The last five years have been full of highs, lows, wins, losses, and roadblocks but at the end of the day we are just so happy and fortunate to continue making music that we love and to share it with anyone who cares to listen,” Willax said. “We put our hearts and souls into this album and even though start to finish it only took us eight months, it’s feels like it’s 15 years in the making.”

Although Kingdom of Giants’ members are spread across the West Coast, the band chose to work together in person for Usurper. Sessions brought the musicians together in Long Beach, Northern California and Las Vegas, allowing them to develop ideas collectively rather than relying entirely on remote collaboration.

That approach was particularly meaningful to Willax.

“I’m so thankful to the guys for everything they brought to the table in this process,” he said. “It felt good to all be jammed into one room and hash out all our ideas in person like the good old days.”

Usurper also represents a production milestone for Willax, who handled production, mixing and mastering duties on the album.

“Reign” provides an early example of that work, including a section Willax is particularly interested in translating to the band’s live performances.

“This song has a couple of my favorite parts from the entire record, the breakdown in particular was very fun to mix and I’m hoping it hits live,” he said.

He will not have to wait long after the album’s release to find out.

Kingdom of Giants are scheduled to begin a North American headline tour on November 14, one day after Usurperarrives. Deadlands, Holy Wars and Night Rider will join the run, which opens at Vera Project in Seattle and concludes December 18 at Goldfield Trading Post in Sacramento. Deadlands will be absent from select dates, while Holy Wars will not appear at the Seattle opener.

The upcoming album continues a catalog that began with Every Wave of Sound in 2013 and includes Ground Culture from 2014, All the Hell You’ve Got to Spare from 2017 and Passenger from 2020.

Across that run, Kingdom of Giants have toured with artists including Beartooth, Kittie, The Devil Wears Prada, Fit For A King, Chelsea Grin and Born Of Osiris. Usurper now begins the band’s next album cycle after a six-year gap between full-length records.
