L.A. Guns Preview Live From The Guild Theatre With “Electric Gypsy”
The new live album captures the band’s Guild Theatre performance celebrating Leopard Skin
L.A. Guns will release Live From The Guild Theatre on July 3 through Cleopatra Records, bringing fans a full live recording from the band’s performance at The Guild Theatre nearly one year after the launch of their studio album Leopard Skin.
Ahead of the release, the band has shared “Electric Gypsy” as the first single from the live album. The track, originally featured on L.A. Guns’ self-titled debut, offers a look at how the band’s early material still fits within its current live show.
Live From The Guild Theatre arrives during a strong period for the long-running hard rock act. Leopard Skin received positive attention from rock and metal outlets, with Rockpit.net calling it “a hook-filled, melody-drenched delight” while noting that the band continues to sound current without abandoning its roots. Metal Planet Music described L.A. Guns as “still churning out bangers,” while Maximum Volume Music praised the band’s raw edge and highlighted “Hit and Run” as an example of their unapologetic attitude.
The live album’s setlist reaches across multiple eras of the band’s catalog. Songs from the 1988 debut, including “Electric Gypsy,” “Sex Action,” and “One More Reason,” appear alongside selections from Cocked and Loaded, including “I Wanna Be Your Man,” “The Ballad of Jayne,” “Rip and Tear,” and “Never Enough.”
Material from Leopard Skin is also represented, connecting the group’s newest chapter with the songs that helped define its place in hard rock. For longtime fans, the album serves as both a snapshot of the current lineup and a reminder of how much of L.A. Guns’ catalog was built for the stage.
The performance features vocalist Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns, joined by Ace Von Johnson on guitar, Johnny Martin on bass, and Shawn Duncan on drums.
