New Release Alert for Death Metal Fans!
On April 18th, the renowned Swedish death metal band LIK will make a glorious return with their latest full-length album, Necro, available via Metal Blade Records. Known for their unique brand of classic Swedish death metal, LIK is set to deliver an experience reminiscent of a shock-horror movie—one that’s drenched in blood and packed with thrilling extremities.
The zombified cover art, created by Jens Olsson, is just a taste of the intense journey awaiting listeners. Necro promises to captivate with tales of war, death, zombies, apocalypse, and murder, while offering riffs that are as disgustingly good as ever. Following their acclaimed 2020 release, Misanthropic Breed, LIK took to NBS Studio in Söderfors for this latest project, marking a return to a fully equipped studio environment.
With uber-producer Lawrence Mackrory backing them, Necro was recorded live over three days, ensuring an unfiltered sound. Mackrory’s collaboration with LIK dates back to their 2015 debut and continues to refine their distinct sound.
Fans can prepare for a seamless and intense experience across Necro’s ten tracks, blending the band’s new direction with their signature style. As frontman Tomas Åkvik explains: “We didn’t really want to repeat ourselves, but of course we wanted the LIK sound.”
Ahead of the release, LIK has unveiled their new single, “War Praise.” As Åkvik elaborates, “A LIK track that felt just like LIK but with enough new stuff to make it interesting for us.
