The Ohio metalcore band’s eighth studio album will mark its debut release through Solid State Records.
Miss May I has announced its eighth full-length album, No Place for Me, scheduled for release on October 2 through Solid State Records.
The upcoming record marks the Ohio metalcore band’s first album for the label and follows 2022’s Curse of Existence. Miss May I has also shared a music video for the album’s opening track and first single, “Sanctuary,” offering an early look at the personal themes shaping the new material.
The current lineup features vocalist Levi Benton, drummer Jerod Boyd, bassist Ryan Neff, and guitarist Elisha Mullins.
Rather than presenting emotional conflict as something external, “Sanctuary” focuses on the ways a person can undermine their own sense of security. Benton described the song as an examination of recognizing personal responsibility within a repeated pattern of fear and self-sabotage.
“‘Sanctuary’ is a song about wanting to feel safe and realizing you’re the one making that impossible,” Benton said. “It’s a cycle I’ve struggled with my whole life and I think a lot of people know exactly what that feels like.”
That internal tension appears to extend across No Place for Me, a 10-track album centered on identity, emotional confrontation, and the difficult process of examining experiences that may have gone unspoken.
According to Benton, writing and recording the album provided a way to finally articulate feelings he had carried for years.
“No Place For Me is everything I’ve felt for a long time but never had the words for,” he explained. “Writing it taught me who I actually am even when that hurt to look at. It’s a full journey: Where it started, what I discovered, and where I am today.”
The album’s song titles point toward a record shaped by conflict, pain, judgment, and survival. Tracks including “Portrait of Pain,” “Pray for Silence,” “Death Threat,” “Ashes Of The Altar,” and “Highbrow Thieves” place “Sanctuary” within a broader collection that appears focused on processing destructive thoughts rather than allowing them to remain unchecked.
That approach is consistent with Miss May I’s longstanding balance of personal subject matter and aggressive metalcore songwriting. Since forming in Ohio in 2007, the band has combined melodic hooks, hardcore-influenced rhythms, and tightly constructed guitar work with lyrics addressing emotional pressure and uncertainty.
Miss May I reached a wider audience with its 2012 album At Heart, which debuted at No. 32 on the Billboard 200. The group continued its chart presence with 2015’s Deathless and 2017’s Shadows Inside, both of which entered the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top Independent Albums and Top Rock Albums charts.
The band’s most recent full-length, Curse of Existence, was released in 2022. With No Place for Me, Miss May I begins its next album cycle while entering a new label partnership with Solid State Records.
Throughout its career, the group has also toured alongside artists including Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and Motionless In White. Its upcoming activities include appearances at Inkcarceration and Rock Fest during the 2026 summer festival season.
The release of “Sanctuary” gives listeners the first indication of how Miss May I is approaching its Solid State debut. While the band’s established metalcore foundation remains central to its identity, the album’s stated concept places particular emphasis on self-examination and the consequences of confronting parts of oneself that are difficult to acknowledge.
No Place for Me is currently available for preorder ahead of its October 2 release.
