The Detroit hard rock band’s second album features Maria Brink, while the newly premiered “My Own Name” video centers on reclaiming personal identity.
Detroit hard rock band Eva Under Fire released its second full-length album, Villainous, on July 10 through Better Noise Music.
The 13-track record follows the band’s 2022 debut, Love, Drugs & Misery, and arrives as Eva Under Fire prepares for an extensive summer and fall run supporting Five Finger Death Punch’s 20th Anniversary World Tour 2026. The group will begin its upcoming schedule with several headline performances before joining the larger tour in Camden, New Jersey, on July 20.
Alongside the album’s release, Eva Under Fire premiered a music video for “My Own Name” on July 10. The song addresses the process of moving beyond outside judgment and taking control of one’s identity after enduring personal conflict.
“They can call me whatever they want,” vocalist Amanda Lyberg said. “I fought my battles and emerged victorious, I reclaimed my own name. I no longer give people a chance and I acknowledge this is a screwed up, unfair world. I will always choose myself.”
That sense of emotional confrontation runs throughout Villainous. The album includes songs titled “Survive My Scars,” “Don’t Say I’m OK,” “Dark Soul,” “Murder Scene,” and “A Violent End,” placing themes of trauma, survival, anger, and self-preservation at the center of the record.
Lyberg’s work outside the band has helped shape that perspective. She earned a Master of Arts degree in psychology in 2018 and later began working at Transcendence Behavioral Health, a Detroit mental health clinic owned by Dr. Stephanie Williams. Lyberg currently practices psychotherapy with a focus on trauma, grief, loss, and addiction recovery.
Her personal experience with addiction-related loss has also informed her creative work. Lyberg’s father died from a fentanyl overdose in 2018, while her mother survived after taking drugs from the same batch and has since maintained six years of sobriety, according to the band’s announcement.
Lyberg brought her therapeutic background into the recording process for Villainous, encouraging open communication among the band members and creating space for each person’s ideas to be heard. That collaborative approach connects the album’s hard rock foundation with subjects that frequently appear in her professional work.
The album’s title track features Maria Brink of In This Moment and has reached the Top 10 at Active Rock radio. The collaboration also received an accompanying music video and served as the record’s first radio single.
Brink’s appearance continues Eva Under Fire’s history of working with artists from across the modern rock and metal scene. The band previously collaborated with Ice Nine Kills vocalist Spencer Charnas on “Blow” and country-rock artist Cory Marks on the deluxe version of “Unstoppable,” which reached the Top 20 at Active Rock radio.
Eva Under Fire expanded its audience following appearances connected to Better Noise Films. The band was featured in the horror thriller The Retaliators, with “Blow” included on the film’s soundtrack. Its song “Heroin(e)” also appeared on the soundtrack for the 2020 film Sno Babies.
Lyberg’s life story later became the subject of the 2023 short film My Rockstar, which incorporated Eva Under Fire’s music. According to the announcement, the film received more than 20 awards across events including the Orlando Film Fest, Wild Rivers Film Festival, and Toronto WILDfilm Festival.
The band’s broader touring history includes appearances alongside Bush, Bad Wolves, Pop Evil, Skillet, and Finger Eleven, as well as festival performances at Aftershock, Inkcarceration, and Rock Fest. SiriusXM also selected Eva Under Fire as one of its “Ones to Watch” in 2023.
The release of Villainous now places the group at the beginning of its largest touring stretch of 2026. Following headline shows in Lakewood, Albany, and Hartford, Eva Under Fire will spend the remainder of the summer and much of the fall supporting Five Finger Death Punch and Cody Jinks across the United States and Canada.
