PLUME Explore Fragility and Impact on Saferooms & Healing Frequencies

The band’s latest album brings modern metal, hyper-pop, alternative rock and electronic textures together around themes of anxiety, emotional overload and healing.

PLUME have released Saferooms & Healing Frequencies, an album that pushes the band’s genre-blurring approach further into a mix of modern metal, hyper-pop, alternative rock and electronic music.

The record is built around contrast. Heavy guitars and abrupt rhythmic shifts sit alongside bright electronic textures and large melodic sections, giving the album a structure that frequently moves between restraint and intensity rather than remaining locked into one mode.

At the center of Saferooms & Healing Frequencies is the idea of searching for stability in environments that rarely feel settled. Across the album, PLUME address anxiety, emotional overload, pain and the need to create space for recovery. Instead of presenting heaviness and vulnerability as opposites, the band places them beside one another, allowing softer passages to function as part of the emotional build rather than as breaks from it.

“Frankincense” serves as one of the clearest examples of that balance.

The track moves through airy clean vocals and glitch-heavy electronics before breaking into screamed passages and heavier guitar work. Its lyrical focus centers on processing pain and finding somewhere emotionally safe enough to confront it, making the song a useful entry point into the themes running throughout the album.

That sense of instability is reflected in PLUME’s broader approach to songwriting as well. The band uses synthesizers, layered production and unpredictable rhythmic ideas to keep its material moving beyond conventional genre boundaries. Although melodic and pop-oriented elements remain an important part of the sound, they are consistently reshaped by heavier instrumentation and more abrasive textures.

The result is an album that feels less concerned with choosing between heavy and accessible than with finding ways to make those qualities coexist.

That same emphasis on contrast also extends into PLUME’s visual presentation. The band has developed an aesthetic influenced by glam rock styling and contemporary digital culture, treating imagery and performance as extensions of the music rather than separate elements.

PLUME have described themselves as a “New Generation of Rockstars,” a phrase that reflects the group’s broader interest in combining music, visual identity and performance into one larger creative framework. In a live setting, that approach translates into shows designed around atmosphere, movement and presentation as much as the songs themselves.

With Saferooms & Healing Frequencies, those different elements come together around a more focused emotional theme. The album does not treat healing as something neat or resolved. Instead, it presents that process as uneven, with tension, fragility and release often existing within the same song.

For listeners coming to PLUME through the heavier side of their sound, the record still delivers weight and aggression. At the same time, its electronic and melodic elements give the material a broader palette, reinforcing the band’s interest in moving outside traditional rock and metal structures.

Rather than relying on one genre identity, Saferooms & Healing Frequencies positions PLUME as a band increasingly comfortable building its own framework from multiple influences. “Frankincense,” in particular, highlights how effectively the group can use that approach to connect atmosphere, intensity and emotional subject matter within the same track.
