In celebration of Halloween, Quebec City’s hardcore/sludge band SCARE unveiled their intense new single, “Nevermind If It All Explodes, I’ll Die Anyway.” Stream the track HERE
SCARE’s latest offering showcases their distinct style, characterized by abrasive sludge-tone metallic hardcore influences and deliberate, driving grooves. Since 2015, the quartet has channeled the anxieties of modern life through their music, resonating deeply with listeners who share similar struggles.
Inspired by groups like Cursed, Mi Amore, Buried Inside, and Trigger Effect, SCARE consistently broadens their musical scope with every release. Their complex sound may resist simple classification, yet their anxiety-driven music unmistakably speaks to those burdened by life’s pressures. By focusing on humanity’s darker aspects, they embody a spirit of “no fun” that resonates with anyone wrestling with personal demons.
Following a series of impactful releases, including their first demo in 2015, the “Fleshed Out” EP in 2016, their debut LP “Not Dead Yet, Probably…” in 2019, remixes by ugly_bassplayer in 2020, and the “Congratulations On Your Death” EP in 2021, SCARE released the powerful track, “Nevermind If It All Explodes, I’ll Die Anyway.” The song was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ryan Battistuzzi at Le Stuzzio, while Kevin Martel provided the artwork.
Vocalist Philip Roy comments on the single, stating, “‘Nevermind If It All Explodes, I’ll Die Anyway’ is a piece that explores the idea that we may be trapped in a loop. Every decision we make, every path we take, and every loss of a loved one seems to repeat itself without us having the power to change anything in our lives. The only way to break free from this negative loop is to realize that we are in one and to try to create moments we would want to relive. In the end, was it really worth it?”
