Since their formation in 2015, SCOUR has left a considerable mark on the extreme metal scene, starting with their hard-hitting debut single “Dispatched.” The band’s trajectory includes the gritty releases of The Grey EP in 2016 and The Red EP in 2017, followed by their most aggressive work, The Black EP, in 2020, featuring notable contributions from Erik Rutan, Pat O’Brien, and even actor Jason Momoa.
“Gold” raises the stakes with a collaboration that includes a compelling guest solo by Gary Holt. Recorded beginning in February 2023 at Philip Anselmo’s own Nodferatu’s Lair studio, the band engaged in creating a composition laced with intensity, with Anselmo closely steering the process. This rigorous effort spanned the year, aligning with touring schedules, as band members gathered in various backstage settings to finalize vocals.
The completed tracks, mixed by Dennis Israel, underwent final mastering at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden, under the expert care of Jens Bogren.
