Dirty Heads band’s ninth full-length album includes “2 Young,” a personal track featuring Duddy B’s daughter Sophia Lynn.
Dirty Heads have released their ninth full-length album, 7 Seas, via Better Noise Music, marking the next chapter for a band that has spent more than two decades blending reggae, hip-hop, alternative rock, and pop into a sound built for both radio and festival stages.
Released on June 12, 7 Seas arrives as Dirty Heads continue to expand their long-running catalog while preparing for a busy summer schedule that includes a co-headline tour with 311, select headline dates, and multiple festival appearances. The album follows a series of recent singles and promotional events, including a listening party and Q&A at the Honda Lounge at the iHeartRadio Studios in Los Angeles earlier in the week. That event is set to be made available for fans to watch on VEEPS in connection with the album release.
Alongside the album, Dirty Heads have shared a visualizer for “2 Young,” one of the record’s most personal tracks. The song features Sophia Lynn, daughter of vocalist and guitarist Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell, creating a family-centered moment within the album.
“I remember Sophia sitting in a high chair while we were writing ‘Lay Me Down,’ so to now have her featuring on our album is very special. Her voice was meant for this song,” Duddy said.
For Sophia Lynn, the collaboration carries its own meaning as she enters a new stage of life.
“Getting to work with Dirty Heads was such a full circle moment for me. This track is so meaningful, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it. As someone who’s just stepping into a new chapter of life after graduating high school, these lyrics really resonate with me. Growing up is exciting, but it can also be confusing, overwhelming, and messy. I hope this song reminds people that at whatever stage in life they’re at, it’s okay to not have everything figured out.”
The release of 7 Seas continues a period of renewed visibility for Dirty Heads. The band introduced the album cycle with the title track, “Seven Seas,” which has surpassed 3.1 million total streams, according to the source announcement. The group followed with “One of Those Days,” described in the release as a Top 10 track at Alternative Radio and approaching the Top 5.
Formed in 2000, Dirty Heads built their name through a hybrid approach that pulls from reggae, hip-hop, alternative, rock, and pop without sitting neatly inside one lane. That crossover identity has remained central to the band’s longevity, helping them connect with audiences across radio, streaming platforms, summer amphitheaters, and festival lineups.
Their wider reach grew significantly with the platinum-certified single “Vacation,” which found a second life through viral culture and introduced the band to newer listeners beyond their original fanbase. The group later earned a No. 1 Alternative Radio hit with “Rescue Me,” further reinforcing their place within the alternative scene.
The band’s career also includes more than 3 billion streams worldwide and collaborations with artists including Travis Barker, Nick Hexum, Slightly Stoopid, ROME, Maroon 5, Slash, and others, according to the announcement.
Outside of the album itself, Dirty Heads recently partnered with 4ocean, a global organization focused on reducing ocean plastic pollution. Last month, frontman Jared Watson joined the 4ocean team in Key Largo, Florida, where they collected trash along the shoreline at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Material from that cleanup was recycled into a Dirty Heads 4ocean bracelet, available individually and as part of a limited premium vinyl edition of 7 Seas through the band’s store.
The environmental collaboration connects naturally to the album’s coastal imagery and the band’s long-standing association with beach culture, but the project also gives fans a tangible way to support ocean cleanup efforts tied directly to this album cycle.
Dirty Heads will bring the new material to the road this summer. Their co-headline tour with 311 begins July 11 in Shakopee, Minnesota, with support varying by date from Ocean Alley, Atmosphere, and ROME. Before that run begins, the band has several June dates, including festival appearances and shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater and Dillon Amphitheater in Colorado.
With 7 Seas, Dirty Heads are not reinventing their foundation as much as widening the frame around it. The album leans into the band’s established mix of melody, rhythm, and relaxed coastal energy while also highlighting more personal storytelling, particularly through “2 Young.”
