The Dark Joins Arising Empire and Drops Debut Single ‘Chemicals’

Los Angeles-based band The Dark is making their mark with the release of their debut single, “Chemicals.” The band, led by vocalist Craig Johns Jr., has officially signed with Arising Empire, the independent label known for breaking metalcore acts like thrown and While She Sleeps. Their debut single is out now and is already turning heads in the heavy music scene.

With Of Mice & Men guitarist Alan Ashby, drummer Derek Vautrinot, and bassist Nick Goins, The Dark blends influences from ’90s industrial heavyweights like Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, and Filter. “Chemicals” takes listeners on a dark journey through an apocalyptic love story, where two people choose to fixate on each other as the world crumbles around them.

Johns Jr. explains the personal inspiration behind the song: “It’s something I’m not proud of, but there have been times where I’ve lost myself in lust and drugs rather than facing the harsh realities of life in L.A. Sometimes it’s easier to escape into what’s right in front of you—whether that’s a person or a substance—than to deal with the bigger picture.”

With The Dark’s debut single now out and the band joining the Arising Empire family, they are set to carve out their place in the world of heavy music. “Chemicals” offers a powerful introduction to their sound and vision, a raw reflection of human vulnerability and the struggle to face reality.

The Dark is:

Craig Johns Jr. –  vocals

Alan Ashby – guitar

Nick Goins – bass

Derek Vautrinot – drums
