As the sun dipped below the horizon, anticipation filled the air outside The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon, where fans lined up eagerly before the doors opened at 7 PM. Excitement buzzed among the crowd, with laughter and chatter echoing in the warm evening breeze. Friends shared stories, while newcomers bonded over their shared love for reggae and the artists they were about to see. When the doors finally swung open, the energy surged as everyone rushed inside, ready to experience an unforgettable night of music. The vibrant atmosphere set the stage for what would be a remarkable evening, beginning with the soulful sounds of Sailor Jane and escalating into high-energy performances from Drifting Roots and The Expendables.


SAILOR JANE

Sailor Jane delivered an electrifying performance at The Ranch, captivating the crowd with their infectious energy and powerful vocals. The band’s blend of pop and reggae resonated throughout the venue, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Hits like “Smooth Operator” had everyone singing along, while the original “Ready For Love” was quite well received!!

The chemistry between the band members was noticeable, elevating the experience even further. Fans were treated to an engaging stage presence, complete with dynamic lighting that complemented their high-energy set. Born in St. Augustine, Florida, Sailor Jane’s love for music began in church and quickly grew as she taught herself guitar and piano. Her passion led her to study classical guitar at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and earn a degree in Audio Engineering from Full Sail University, where her interest in production and songwriting blossomed.

The nickname “Sailor Jane” came from her adventures sailing the Caribbean with friends, symbolizing her drive to break barriers in the male-dominated music industry. Her debut single, “Ready for Love,” put her on the reggae map in 2020, followed by 2021’s “Into You,” featuring top Jamaican musicians.

Now, she’s back with No Ordinary Dub: A Tribute to Sade, a re-imagining of Sade’s greatest hits, blending reggae, dub, and her signature sultry vocals. Produced by Michael Goldwasser, this 14-track album features the best of modern reggae.

Offstage, Sailor Jane is a dedicated nurse, humanitarian, and breast cancer survivor, bringing resilience and heart to everything she does.


DRIFTING ROOTS

From the moment they took the stage, Drifting Roots captured the audience’s attention. Their dynamic performance was a masterclass in crowd engagement, with every member exuding charisma and passion. The smooth vocals of lead singer Matthew resonated throughout the venue, inviting everyone to join in the experience.

The band expertly crafted a set that flowed seamlessly, transitioning from upbeat anthems to more introspective moments, allowing the crowd to ride the emotional waves. Their ability to shift the mood kept the audience on their toes, as laughter and cheers quickly turned to reflective silence, showcasing their versatility.

Drifting Roots is an original reggae band from Central Florida, founded in 2018 by Matthew Mavericks in San Diego, California. After starting their journey on the West Coast, Matt brought the band’s unique sound back to Florida, where he writes, records, and produces music from his home studio in Satellite Beach.

The touring lineup features Matt on guitar and lead vocals, Joey Zizzo on bass, and Chris Mavericks on drums. Known for high-energy performances, the band stays true to their roots reggae influences while adding their own modern twist.

Drifting Roots has shared the stage with big names like Collie Buddz, Steel Pulse, and Julian Marley. With two Top 5 iTunes albums, Life is Good (2021) and Meant to Be (2022), they recently released a new EP, Find a Way (2024). Touring coast to coast, they spread love and good vibes with every show.


THE EXPENDABLES

The Expendables took the stage at The Ranch Concert Hall and Saloon, and they didn’t just perform—they ignited the crowd with an electric energy that was impossible to resist. From the opening notes of “Stay Now,” the audience was fully engaged, singing and swaying along.

The band showcased a diverse setlist, effortlessly blending their original tracks with covers like Sublime’s “Badfish” and Eek-A-Mouse’s “Ganja Smugglin’.” Hits like “Let Loose” and “Burning Up” kept the vibe high, while “Minimum Wage” and “Bowl for Two” showcased their laid-back reggae rock sound.

The Expendables’ chemistry was evident, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made everyone feel at home. As the night went on, songs like “Sinsemilla” and “Wicked Game” drew out even more cheers, proving that this band knows how to connect with their fans.

Hailing from Santa Cruz, California, The Expendables have been rocking the reggae scene since 1997. Formed by childhood friends Geoff Weers (vocals/guitar), Raul Bianchi (lead guitar), and Adam Patterson (drums), the band started as a party crew, playing surf rock covers for local gatherings. With the addition of Ryan DeMars on bass in 2000, their laid-back sound truly took shape.

The band’s music blends reggae, ska, surf rock, punk, and even metal, making them stand out in the reggae-rock genre. Their early albums like No Time to Worry (2001) and Open Container (2002) helped solidify their local fan base, while Gettin’ Filthy (2004) put them on the map with hits like “Keef Bowl For Two” and “Sacrifice,” the latter even featured on Guitar Hero.

Fast forward to 2023, and The Expendables are still going strong with their latest album, Pleasure Point. The band continues to tour worldwide, sharing stages with icons like 311, Pepper, and Slightly Stoopid. Plus, they’ve expanded into cannabis with their ExpendaFarms brand.

Whether through music or ventures, The Expendables remain a driving force in the reggae-rock world, and they show no signs of slowing down.
