The California post-hardcore band begins its next album cycle with a new label partnership and the first song from Ashes, due in early 2027.
A Skylit Drive have signed with Vaux Records as the post-hardcore band prepares for the release of its next full-length album, Ashes, in early 2027.
The signing coincides with the release of “Half Hearted,” the first song unveiled from the upcoming record. A music video for the track is also available.
Vaux Records is owned and operated by Craig Ericson, who founded Rise Records. The partnership gives A Skylit Drive a new label home as the band moves deeper into its latest period of recording and touring activity.
For Ashes, A Skylit Drive have been working with co-writer and producer Ryan Furlott as well as producer and mixer Joey Sturgis. Sturgis’ production credits include work with Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men and The Devil Wears Prada, connecting the project with a producer whose work became closely associated with metalcore during the late 2000s and 2010s.
According to vocalist Michael Jagmin, “Half Hearted” became an important turning point during development of the new album, both musically and personally.
“‘Half Hearted’ quickly became a defining song for this album,” Jagmin said. “It marked the beginning of working with co-writer and producer Ryan Furlott and opened the door to a side of ourselves musically that we hadn’t explored before. More than anything, writing it was deeply cathartic. It became one of those rare moments where creating music felt less like writing a song and more like confronting something within ourselves—and putting it into words.”
The upcoming Ashes album follows a catalog that includes Wires…and the Concept of Breathing, Adelphia, Identity on Fire, Rise and ASD. Across those releases, A Skylit Drive became associated with the melodic side of post-hardcore, pairing heavier instrumentation with prominent clean vocals and emotionally driven songwriting.
The Vaux Records agreement now places the band at the beginning of another full album campaign, with “Half Hearted” serving as the first indication of the musical direction developed during the sessions with Furlott and Sturgis.

With Ashes still in production, additional details including a specific release date, complete track listing and further singles have not yet been announced in the provided material. For now, “Half Hearted” offers the first look at the record before its planned early 2027 release.
