The Florida metalcore band follows the It Calls Me By NameEP with a standalone single before launching the Emergency Broadcast Tour in October.
Florida metalcore favorites Wage War have unveiled the official music video for their new standalone single, “Sweet Dreams,” continuing the heavier direction introduced on the band’s recent It Calls Me By Name EP, released through Fearless Records.
Rather than serving as another EP track, “Sweet Dreams” stands on its own while revisiting many of the musical elements that have defined Wage War throughout the past decade. Blending crushing riffs with melodic passages, the song balances aggression and atmosphere in a way longtime fans have come to expect from the band.
Speaking about the song’s meaning, Wage War said:
“‘Sweet Dreams’ is a song about being deceived by the world around you. About safety in a sense of blissful ignorance. Sonically, it draws inspiration from all of our previous work over the last 10 years.”
The release arrives only months after It Calls Me By Name, an EP that leaned heavily into the band’s more aggressive sound while reaffirming the heavier side of Wage War’s identity. Although “Sweet Dreams” is a standalone release, it continues that trajectory, pairing intense instrumentation with dynamic shifts and melodic vocal sections.
Since emerging from Florida, Wage War has become one of modern metalcore’s most recognizable names, building its reputation through relentless touring and a catalog that has consistently balanced metalcore intensity with memorable songwriting. Over the years, the band has evolved its sound while maintaining the blend of breakdowns, soaring choruses, and polished production that has attracted a broad audience within the heavy music community.
The current lineup features Briton Bond (lead vocals), Cody Quistad (rhythm guitar and clean vocals), Seth Blake (lead guitar), Chris Gaylord (bass), and Stephen Kluesener (drums).
Following the release of “Sweet Dreams,” Wage War is preparing to return to the road this fall for its Emergency Broadcast Tour, a North American headlining run featuring support from We Came As Romans, Varials, and Cane Hill.
The tour begins October 25 in San Antonio, Texas, and concludes November 27 with a hometown performance in Orlando, Florida. The month-long trek will take the band across the United States and Canada, including stops in Las Vegas, Toronto, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Charlotte.
