Absinthe Green is thrilled to release “Same Old Fire” from their upcoming debut album, “Of Love and Pain”. This track delves into the “struggle between longing and loss, the way old wounds and fears can haunt us. It captures the ache of losing something once so bright, yet still feeling its flames burning cold. It’s a raw, personal reflection on love, dreams, and the things we let slip away.
It was supposed to be a duet with Warrel Dane (Nevermore, Sanctuary), who was not only a friend and teacher but also a muse to me. His passing made it impossible to bring the song to life as planned, and his absence is deeply felt in every note. I tend to write from pain, and this is yet another song born from that place—an attempt to make sense of the emptiness and the fire that still burns.” – Absinthe Green.
The song was written and arranged by the band’s own Eirini ‘Absinthe Green’, who also handled the production alongside Hiili Hiilesmaa. Recording took place at Vena Cava Studios in Athens, thanks to Geegor of Abyssal Productions, while mixing and mastering were done by Hiili Hiilesmaa at Coal House Studios in Hämeenlinna. Stel Giatra contributed additional guitar work, and drums were recorded with assistance from Mike Meleteas at Bombtrack Studios.

The Journey of Absinthe Green
Founded in 2016 as a solo endeavor by Eirini ‘Absinthe Green’ in Dortmund, Germany, the project found its full form in Greece by 2019. Eirini was joined by a talented lineup: drummer Harry Mason, bassist Villy Pirris, and guitarist Panos Economakis. Together, they have mesmerized audiences with a sound that intertwines pop elements, intense guitars, groovy rhythms, and a dynamic vocal range.
Absinthe Green expertly transcends genre boundaries. They’ve been described as “a melodic storm of beauty and heartbreak, both ferocious and tender,” with a sound that amalgamates alternative metal, hard rock, and more. Their music is noted for soul-stirring vocals that fluctuate between power and delicacy, supported by masterful guitar riffs and catchy grooves that resonate deeply.
Their songwriting is genuine and bold, confronting the profound themes of love, pain, and redemption. Absinthe Green’s lyrics navigate the dualities of life, where joy and sorrow, hope and despair entwine. The debut album “Of Love and Pain”, produced by the famed Hiili Hiilesmaa, is set for release in 2025. It promises to explore the paradoxes of the human condition through a poignant and powerful musical journey.
