CARSEX Release New Track/Video “Crooked Canvas”

Punk band CARSEX has unleashed their electrifying new single and video, “Crooked Canvas,” produced by Steve Evetts (known for his work with Sepultura, Alesana, Poison the Well, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Butcher Babies). The track delivers a scathing critique of blind consumerism and unquestioning loyalty to political parties. It opens with a spoken word warning set against a powerful guitar riff that intensifies with a staccato drumbeat, culminating in a relentless sonic assault.

CARSEX vocalist Nigel Burk explains, “‘Crooked Canvas’ is about the metaphorical wool being pulled over people’s eyes and the mindless consumption of whatever is presented to them—whether it’s politics, religion, fashion, or even pharmaceuticals promising impossible results. It’s my way of expressing disgust at consumerism at its peak.”

Bassist Jeremy Schott adds, “We shot the music video with our friends Brad Walther and Jason Lazo at Big Walrus Productions in Long Beach. We collaborated with them on our previous video for ‘Your Generation.’ This time, we filmed on a church set to align with the song’s theme of the public being dictated how to think and what to consume, and doing so without question. The video was edited by Steven Burhoe of Plague Productions.”

About CARSEX:

CARSEX’s sound is as raw and visceral as their name suggests: gritty, primal, and unapologetically intense. Formed by veterans of the Long Beach music scene—members from bands like Damned Age, Black Velvet Brigade, and Red River Massacre—CARSEX is the result of over a decade of shared experiences in the Orange County club circuit. When their previous bands either disbanded or shifted direction, these five musicians came together in 2018 under a unified vision, creating a sound that blends the ferocity of Circle Jerks, Black Flag, and The Germs with the dark edge of Danzig, the fuzz-laden grooves of Fu Manchu, and a hint of Queens of the Stone Age.

The band has already released two EPs: their self-titled debut in 2019 and the “2020 EP,” featuring singles like “Your Generation” and “Lovesick.” A new EP is currently in the works and is slated for release later this summer.

Known for their high-energy live performances, CARSEX is gearing up to support “Crooked Canvas” and their forthcoming EP with a series of shows. They’ve shared the stage with notable acts like Stillwell (Fieldy from Korn’s band), The Obsessed, Mondo Generator, Suicide Silence, Unsane, Dead Poet’s Society, Narcoleptic Youth, and O’Zorn!, among others.
