The Berlin trio’s Future Palace fourth album arrives July 31 via Century Media, with extensive 2026 festival and headline dates scheduled.
Future Palace are moving deeper into the emotional core of their upcoming album Resurgence with the release of the music video for “Tidal Waves,” the latest single from the Berlin alternative metal trio.
The track appears on Resurgence, the band’s fourth full-length album, scheduled for release on July 31 via Century Media. Across the record, Future Palace explore isolation, depression, inner conflict, and the process of rebuilding after emotional collapse. While the album leans into the band’s mix of post-hardcore weight, electronic atmosphere, melodic lift, and heavy breakdowns, “Tidal Waves” shows a softer side of that world.
Vocalist Maria Lessing described the song as one of the most significant pieces she has written, centering it around the bond between siblings and her role as an older sister.
“This is probably the most important song I have ever written. It was extremely hard for me to write and I have failed to write a good song about this very important topic over and over again these past years. To sum it up: This song is about true love and how it feels. It can be very hard to recognize true love, but I personally found it in the role of being a big sister. Being someone who protects, cares, and always finds the time and patience to be there.
“I tried, and still try, my best to keep my younger sister from the pain that I had to go through. Even though we already went through a lot of pain together in our lifes, but it made our bond only stronger. I feel like no one will ever truly understand you like a close sibling does.”
Guitarist Manuel Kohlert said the song began after drummer Johannes Früchtenicht suggested a ballad-style track. From there, the instrumental came together naturally, giving the album its softest moment while still building toward a heavier chorus and an acoustic bridge.
“This one started with a request by [drummer] Johannes [Früchtenicht] when he said he wanted a certain kind of ballad,” Kohlert said. “Challenge accepted. The instrumental was actually very easy to write and came naturally. Compared to the rest of the album this track is by far the softest, yet it builds up to a big, still heavy chorus followed by a dreamy acoustic bridge. All in all, this is our rock ballad.”
For Future Palace, Resurgence continues a trajectory built around emotionally direct songwriting and high-contrast dynamics. The band’s work has frequently addressed mental health, personal struggle, and the tension between vulnerability and survival. With Resurgence, that focus appears to sharpen into a record about the point where despair begins turning into strength.
The timing also places Future Palace in a busy stretch of international activity. The band is scheduled for several 2026 festival appearances, including Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze, Reload Festival, Rock The Lakes, and Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky. Their fall Deep Blue Tour 2026 will take them across Europe and the UK with support from As Everything Unfolds, Luna Kills, Defences, and VINTA on select dates.
