Progressive deathgaze innovators KARDASHEV have set to release their latest full-length album, “Alunea”, available now for preorder via Metal Blade Records. This release features eight immersive tracks, showcasing a new pinnacle for the groundbreaking band. As trailblazers of the “deathgaze” genre, KARDASHEV continues to push musical limits. Drummer Sean Lang describes their sound as “atmospheric, progressive, emotional, dynamic, and contrast,” intended to evoke profound anger and sorrow.

Mark Garrett, the band’s vocalist, shares, “Alunea has much more experimentation when compared to previous releases. It’s a very proggy album.” Guitarist Nico Mirolla adds that while previous albums focused more on the “gaze” side, “Alunea” shifts closer to progressive death metal.

KARDASHEV goes beyond music by crafting their own lyrical language, bringing added depth. Garrett explains, “I’ve loved tinkering with languages since I was a little kid,” enhancing their music with constructed languages or “conlangs.”

“Alunea” continues the narrative from “The Almanac”, exploring philosophical themes about responsibility and duty. Garrett details, “The first releases in The KARDASHEV Mythos were broad and conceptual, but they’ve morphed into something more granular and specific. “Alunea” tells the story of the main character from “The Almanac” meeting a being created in the song ‘Continuum’ from “Excipio”.”

The first single, “Reunion,” serves as an allegory for hope, inspired by bands like The Contortionist and Fallujah. Garrett notes, “‘Reunion’ is part of the imaginary mythology we have written for our far-off descendants,” depicting pivotal mythological figures meeting in open air.
