Nestor Preview Live at Gothenburg Film Studios With “On The Run”

The Swedish melodic hard rock band’s first live album arrives August 14 via Napalm Records

Swedish melodic hard rock band Nestor have released a live version of “On The Run,” the first single from their upcoming live album Live at Gothenburg Film Studios, due August 14 through Napalm Records.

The track originally appeared on the band’s 2021 album Kids in a Ghost Town, the release that introduced Nestor to a wider international audience after the group’s long-delayed rise from its original 1989 formation. Since that comeback, the band has built momentum with a sound rooted in classic AOR, melodic hard rock, and arena-sized choruses.

“On The Run” has become one of Nestor’s most recognizable songs, and the live version highlights the band’s polished but energetic stage presence. The performance brings together bright keyboards, soaring guitars, and a large singalong chorus that fits naturally within the band’s nostalgic yet current approach to hard rock.

Vocalist Tobias Gustavsson said the live album captures the band in its element.

“We are super thrilled to release our live album Live at Gothenburg Film Studios with ‘On The Run’ as the first single leading the way into our universe,” Gustavsson said. “I think this album captures NESTOR in our natural habitat: loud, heartfelt, unapologetically dramatic, and somehow both nostalgic and new at the same time. I hope you’ll enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed playing.”

Live at Gothenburg Film Studios features 16 tracks from Nestor’s catalog, including songs from Kids in a Ghost Town and the band’s 2024 album Teenage Rebel. The set includes “Firesign,” “Kids In A Ghost Town,” “Perfect 10,” “Victorious,” “Teenage Rebel,” “1989,” and “It Ain’t Me.”

The album also serves as Nestor’s first live album and DVD release, giving fans a fuller look at the band’s performance style beyond the studio recordings. According to the announcement, the project leans into the human side of live music, preserving the imperfections and spontaneity that come with a real stage performance.

“When I listen to Live at Gothenburg Film Studios, it becomes clear to me that it shows everything that NESTOR was about, from the beginning,” Gustavsson said. “A live performance with all the little quirks and mistakes that makes it human, a thing that I have learned to love even more in an era of AI-generated music.”

He added that the release shows a different side of the band compared to its studio albums, describing it as “less clinical and more of a human experience.”

Nestor’s rise has been tied closely to the band’s ability to revive the spirit of ’80s melodic rock without presenting itself as a simple nostalgia act. Since returning with Kids in a Ghost Town, the group has performed alongside major names including Kiss and Europe, while also touring across Europe and Japan.

With Live at Gothenburg Film Studios, Nestor are documenting the stage energy that has helped fuel that growth. For fans who discovered the band through its studio albums, the release offers a chance to hear those songs in a more immediate setting.

Looking Ahead

As Nestor continue building their live presence, Live at Gothenburg Film Studios gives the band a chance to show why its songs have connected beyond the studio. The release also arrives ahead of several 2026 festival appearances, including NestorFest 2026 in Falköping, Sweden.
