New Jersey technical death metal outfit follows up its latest album with another visual release, spotlighting the blistering opening track from Chaos Exordium.
NIGHTS OF MALICE have shared a new music video for “Reject The Host,” continuing to support their latest full-length album, Chaos Exordium. The video premiered through Slam Worldwide and focuses on the record’s opening track, offering another visual companion to an album that has already produced several singles and videos since its release through Bleeding Art Collective and Blood Blast Distribution.
According to vocalist Brendan McGrath, the response to Chaos Exordium has exceeded the band’s expectations. He pointed to positive critical reception and audience reactions during the group’s recent Chaos & Misery Tour as confirmation that the band’s creative direction resonated with listeners.
“We have been absolutely blown away with the reception we have had for the new album, from some killer reviews through to seeing people tear it up to the new songs on the [band’s recent US] Chaos & Misery Tour, it’s been an awesome experience. We worked so hard on this album and were so confident it was our best work yet, so to get that response has been really rewarding and total confirmation. We now present the next video from the album, ‘Reject The Host.’ This song captures it all! We wanted to have a blistering opening track for Chaos Exordium. In the past, we’ve always had a buildup into the first song, but this time around, we wanted something that goes from 0-100 the moment you press play.”
Serving as the album’s opening statement, “Reject The Host” sets the tone for a record built around technical precision, relentless pacing, and uncompromising heaviness. Rather than easing listeners into the experience, the track launches immediately into the band’s aggressive blend of rapid-fire riffing, intricate musicianship, and punishing vocal delivery.
The video joins a growing collection of visuals released in support of Chaos Exordium, including “Riches To The Conjurer,” which features guest vocals from Chaney Crabb of Entheos, along with “Ex-Mortis” and “Gore Nest.”
Produced once again by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio, the album continues a creative partnership that has been part of NIGHTS OF MALICE’s evolution since the band’s early years. The production team is known for its work with numerous modern metal acts, and their collaboration with the New Jersey outfit remains a consistent element of the band’s sound.
McGrath also explained that the creative approach behind Chaos Exordium centered on pushing the band’s heaviness while embracing the guitar-driven songwriting that has become a defining characteristic of NIGHTS OF MALICE. Lyrically, he shifted away from earlier existential themes in favor of material inspired by classic horror, old-school death metal, and video games, aiming to match the intensity of the music.
Visually, Chaos Exordium is paired with artwork created by Andriy Tkalenko, complementing an album that has drawn attention across the extreme metal community. Reviews have praised its technical execution, aggressive songwriting, and focused approach, with critics highlighting the band’s ability to deliver a cohesive listening experience without sacrificing complexity.
