Traitors announced the release of their album “Phobias,” which came out on February 21. Known for their unique take on deathcore since forming in South Florida in 2013, Traitors continued to leave their mark on the genre. This new, and fifth, album brought a fresh wave of their signature sound.
The band also shared the intense new track, “Release.” According to singer Tyler Shelton, “‘Release’ captures the internal battle of mental anguish and suppressed emotions, delivering an unapologetic reflection on pain, anger, and disillusionment.” This track combined aggressive lyrics with a deep introspection, touching on themes such as societal pressure and the bravado of strength.
Shelton further explained how the album explored dark themes: “The album delves into the darkest corners of the human mind, exploring themes of mental anguish, inner torment, and destructive cycles. As a successor to the EP ‘Night Terrors,’ this collection of tracks amplifies the intensity, confronting fears and personal demons head-on.” The lyrics painted vivid images of isolation and emotional turmoil, providing listeners with a raw portrayal of life’s harsher realities.

“Phobias” proves to be a powerful album, both musically and emotionally, featuring tracks like “Deprive (Not Enough),” “Trauma Bond,” and “Nuisance” among others.
