The Bronx metallic hardcore outfit closes out its concept-driven second album with a song centered on a citizen reaching a breaking point.
Bronx-based metallic hardcore band XTINGUISH THE CODE has released an official video for “Falling Down,” the closing track from the group’s second full-length album, The Conflict, which is currently available through Grey Matter Records.
Filmed by Jojo Moran, the video accompanies one of the album’s shortest and most direct entries while reinforcing the broader narrative running throughout The Conflict. Vocalist BJ Allen describes the song as the final stage of the record’s central character arc.

That idea ties directly into The Conflict, which marks XTINGUISH THE CODE’s first attempt at building an album around a continuous concept. The record follows the transformation of an ordinary resident into a radicalized citizen, using individual tracks to address themes including working-class solidarity and a growing awareness of events beyond the character’s immediate surroundings.
The album also represents a personnel shift for the band. The Conflict is XTINGUISH THE CODE’s first release featuring drummer Nate Boogie and vocalist BJ Allen, who joined bassist Dusty Onita and guitarist The Professor G Flava in the current lineup.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joe Kusak at Amplitude Recording, the album maintains the band’s New York hardcore foundation while incorporating metallic riffs, beatdown rhythms, groove-driven passages, and elements drawn from hip-hop. Former vocalist Kevin Lugo also returns as a guest on the track “Safe Space.”
XTINGUISH THE CODE formed in 2019, with its members bringing experience from projects including Apparition, 4 In Tha Chamber, Lake Lanier, No Weapon, MAAFA, Waist In Flesh, Gemini Method, Zero Trust, Full Scale Riot, and GMK.
The group issued its debut album, Step To My World, in 2021, followed by the Matter Of Fact EP in 2023, with both releases arriving through 1054 Records. The band subsequently partnered with Grey Matter Records for The Conflict, making the sophomore album its first release through the label.
Over the course of its live activity, XTINGUISH THE CODE has shared stages with bands including D.R.I., Sworn Enemy, Downset, Madball, Life Of Agony, and Sick Of It All, placing the group firmly within the broader New York hardcore and metallic hardcore circuit.
“Falling Down” follows the previously released lyric video for “Despair” and gives The Conflict another visual component as the band continues supporting the record.
XTINGUISH THE CODE has additional shows are scheduled through the fall, including appearances in New York and Puerto Rico.
