Thrash metal legends Testament have partnered with Modist Brewing Co. to create a bold new brew: Apocalyptic City, a West Coast IPA that’s as intense as the band’s music. This limited-edition beer was officially launched during the Klash of the Titans tour stop in Minneapolis, and it’s making waves with both metal fans and craft beer lovers alike.
Modist Brewing, known for pushing the boundaries of beer-making, teamed up with Testament to craft a beer that captures the energy and chaos of their iconic sound. Apocalyptic City clocks in at a smooth but punchy 6% ABV, perfect for those looking to enjoy a bold IPA without being overwhelmed. With a combination of pale ale malt and Goldpils Vienna malt, the beer boasts a pale golden-orange hue. Dry-hopped with Simcoe, Citra, and Sultana hops, it offers tropical flavors like pineapple, orange marmalade, passion fruit, and citrus pine.
“We’re beyond stoked to team up with one of thrash metal’s greatest bands,” said Keigan Knee, Co-Owner of Modist Brewing. “This beer is a tribute to the raw energy of Testament, and we can’t wait for fans to try it.”

The label artwork is just as thrash as the beer itself, created by Mats Engsten and Vic Moya, blending Testament’s legendary visual style with Modist’s craft.
If you’re ready to crack open a can of Apocalyptic City, the beer is available now for pre-order through Halftime Beverage. The beer ships to most U.S. states and globally, but it’s a limited run, so act fast to grab your 12- or 24-pack.
For those in Minneapolis, you can head over to the Modist Brewing Taproom to pick it up directly. Distribution has already started in select liquor stores across the metro area, but quantities are limited, so don’t wait too long.

Testament has been tearing up stages since 1983, and they’re currently rocking North America on their co-headlining Klash of the Titans tour with Kreator. Testament fans can expect an “old-school set” celebrating the remastered versions of their first two albums, The Legacy and The New Order.

With nearly 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Testament continues to dominate the thrash metal scene. Their legendary tracks like “Over the Wall,” “Into the Pit,” and “Brotherhood of the Snake” show their lasting impact.
Frontman Chuck Billy’s powerful vocals, Eric Peterson’s timeless riffs, and Alex Skolnick’s iconic guitar solos have solidified Testament’s place in metal history. Add in Steve Di Giorgio’s deep bass grooves and Chris Dovas’ explosive drumming, and you’ve got a lineup that’s still as strong as ever.
As fans celebrate the band’s classics on tour, the collaboration with Modist Brewing gives metalheads another reason to raise a glass. With Apocalyptic City, Testament’s influence goes beyond music, letting fans experience their energy in a whole new way.
Whether you’re headbanging at a Testament show or relaxing with a cold beer, Apocalyptic City is a perfect way to celebrate the legacy of thrash metal. Keep an eye on Modist Brewing’s social media for upcoming events and new releases, and make sure to grab your limited-edition cans while they last!
